The 2019 Latin American Music Awards dominated Spanish-language prime time TV on Thursday (Oct. 17), delivering 2 million total viewers and a cumulative 4.2 million viewers for Telemundo, according to Nielsen.
The show, which aired live from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, made Telemundo the No. 1 Spanish language network of the evening and the No. 2 broadcast network nationally regardless of language, coming behind only Fox. Locally, the show was No. 1 in New York and Miami among adults 18-49, regardless of language.
The Latin AMAs also generated 40 million engagements across digital, social and television platforms, a 34% increase over 2018. According to Nielsen Social Content ratings, it was the most social program on television for the day, with a 71% increase in activity versus 2018.

The big winner of the evening was Anuel AA, who took home five awards, including artist of the year. The rapper also closed the show with his pals Ozuna and Daddy Yankee in a performance of their hit single “China.”
Other performers included Becky G, who also received the extraordinary evolution award, and Marc Anthony, who received the international artist award of excellence. There was also plenty of cultural exchange, with Farruko performing “Mamacita” featuring Jason Derulo and Ne-Yo singing in Spanish alongside Pitbull.
